Man Found Floating In Water Near Nassau County Park Pronounced Dead

A man found floating in the water near a park on Long Island has been pronounced dead.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 in Massapequa, Nassau County Police said.

According to detectives, a Town of Oyster Bay Constable located the man floating in the water approximately one-half mile south of John Burns Park, according to police. The man was pronounced deceased a short time later by a police medic.

The identity of the man is currently unknown, said police, who added that criminality is not suspected. 

The incident is still under investigation.
